Free computer virus protection is a good option for most of home users that do not have any other special needs except to have a computer protected from viruses. As we have already mentioned on this blog, free computer virus protection can be just as effective and safe as paid virus protection, as long as you use your computer for everyday things: web surfing, email, text processing and other usual stuff.
The benefits of free computer virus protection are pretty obvious – it’s free. And unlike in some other service fields (online and offline) free virus protection programs are actually good enough to do their job very good and you get a great service even if you don’t pay any money for it. There are a bunch of programs, a number of them also reviewed on this site, that you can use and that will serve your needs.
Of course this is true for home users. If you are a business user, you don’t really have many options for free computer virus protection. As far as I know there are no virus protection programs that offer free licence for business users, with the exception of Microsoft Security Essentials, to which you are entitled if you have genuine Windows installed.
Also for business users it is advisable to use some stronger protection which usually comes bundled with some other programs, like spyware protection, firewall etc.
